In 1984 New Delhi YMCA launched Centre for Mass Media (CMM) to conduct post-graduate diploma courses in Public Relations and Advertising and Journalism under the able guidance of Mr. Wilfred Lazarus, a reputed journalist. He was the then Principal Information Officer of the Government of India.
CMM was rechristened as Institute for Media Studies and Information Technology (IMSIT) when new courses related to Information Technology and Electronic Media were introduced for the students keeping in mind the future technology and skill development. Today IMSIT runs over 20 courses related to Media studies and Information Technology.
IMSIT's skill training in today's education ecosystem focuses on increasing expertise, proficiency, competence and employability.
