In 1984 New Delhi YMCA launched Centre for Mass Media (CMM) to conduct post-graduate diploma courses in Public Relations and Advertising and Journalism under the able guidance of Mr. Wilfred Lazarus, a reputed journalist. He was the then Principal Information Officer of the Government of India.

CMM was rechristened as Institute for Media Studies and Information Technology (IMSIT) when new courses related to Information Technology and Electronic Media were introduced for the students keeping in mind the future technology and skill development. Today IMSIT runs over 20 courses related to Media studies and Information Technology.

IMSIT's skill training in today's education ecosystem focuses on increasing expertise, proficiency, competence and employability.

 

 

Mission & Vision

The Mission of IMSIT goes along with Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Skill India’. It consolidates skilling efforts, expedites decision making in students and maintains high scale of standardization in all the courses.

Moral and ethical values are inculcated along with education and skill development through a streamlined institutional mechanism and practical training. Workplace innovation to support a variety of modern lifestyles has become a catchword at IMSIT.

We at IMSIT take pride in the fact that more than 60% of the student’s find jobs much before they graduate from the institute.

Highlights

In the last 35 years IMSIT has produced more than 15,000 media persons, many of them occupy high positions in Public Relations, Advertising, Print Media, Electronic Media and Information Technology.
